I am looking into how I can adapt my 3" GM MAF to the q45 TB. I know the easiest way would be to get a 3.5" MAF, but I dont have the cash at the moment  My question is will a 3" silicon coupler will squeeze over the q45 TB? It measures to 3.5" to the outside. I have to order a 45° or a 90° coupler and I dont want to buy more than one.. Or, looking at the other way, would the 3.5" coupler blow off the 3" MAF if it were clamped down?
Any help or ideas would be appreciated,
Thanks

You will not get a 3" coupler over a 3.5" pipe/TB nor will a 3.5 coupler clamp down leak tight on a 3" pipe.
Do it right the first time and save yourself the issues later.

Then I need to find a 90° 3.5" to 3" coupler

You will actually need a 4" to get over the 3.5". Remember, 3.5" is the I.D., not O.D.. I had one my old car. I had to order a special silicone elbow to connect from the MAF to the TB. If you'd like, I have a few pictures of my setup somewhere. Let me know if you want me to post them.

So couplers are sold based on the outer diameter not the inner? IE. A 3 inch coupler is 3 inches to the outside?

If thats the case wouldn't the 3in MAF actually be closer to 3.25-3.5in then? That would make the use of a 90deg 3.5in coupler a little more plausible.

He will need a 3 3/4" coupler to fit over the outside of the Q45. Couplers are measured I.D. The O.D. of the Q45 is about 3 5/8".

Yeah, I had a 4" on mine with no problem. I'll post pics if I'm able to. Search anfd you might find some already here. I have to pack for a trip tonight, so if I have time, I'll try to re-post them if they're not here.

I think it depends on the company that makes them. I think the less expensive ones are measure from the outside and the nice/expensive ones are usually measured from in inside (I.D) . At least that's what I have seen.
Egay has some 45° 4 to 3.5 and 3.5 to 3 for around 25-30 shipped.

I hear that!
Just have to figure out whats garbage and what is alright.
Im gonna install the Link before I install the manifold and TB so I have a little while before I tackle all that. I just ordered my usb to serial adapter. And I found my strange driveability problem, my alternator is not charging, its enough to slow my fuel pump and run lean :lame:

If it's that bad I wonder why you haven't seen a dead battery yet. It didn't take long for mine to die driving with no alt.

Might be putting out low voltage or erratic voltage.

Or might be because my batt has been dieing and I put a freshly charged one in last night when I found out :silly:
When it warms up outside a little I'll take a look at it. It might be a fuse or something. Or a loose plug.
