I'm sure this has been asked before, but i seached the site and couldn't find anything on it. I just wanted to know what I need to put a T3 on my 98 GST. I have the turbo install kit from Extrememotorsports, will that help me with the T3 at all? Anyone know about how much it will be?

Thanks for the help

Do you have this? RRE or BR sell them around $450.

i dunno if your new to this or not so don't take this as me thinking that you don't know anything. but if your putting on a T3 because you think since its a garret it will bolt up since the T25 is garret also.garret basically made the T25 to bolt up like a mitsu turbo.since you already have the install kit just get a 16g.

He needs to talk to the guy from yesterday.

I know the Garret won't bolt up. I was trying to get a better alternative to the 16g. It's a rather small turbo, and i'm looking for a t3 or t3/t4 hydrid. I wanted to see how much it would be with custom work to see if i should get the t3 or a big 16g.

Thanks

well nevermind on the not bolting up idea.i just wasn't sure what you knew and all.but go with the big 16g.its a very proven turbo and much easier on the install part

In my opinion a T3 would be a pretty worthless upgrade and a T3/T4 combo isn't really recommended for a novice to the game - it's easy to pick a bad combo of wheels and housings.

As to your question itself, I'm not sure what "Extreme Install Kit" you are referring to. Is it a Garret install kit or one to install a 16G on a second gen car?

The Extreme Install kit is for the 14b, 16g, 20g, ect. I was trying to find a cheaper alternative to a 16g or a big 16g with more power gain.

I don't know the specifics, but here's how my thought pattern works out:

Install kit for 16G/20G + T3 Garret Turbo = Round peg/square hole

Wanting more power + cheaper price = disappointment

well, you can bastardize lines from the 2G and a 1G to make a homemade install kit. Frank here in town has a J pipe he may be getting rid of. if you're interested I'll ask him how much. there's a "cheap" alternative to the install kit. won't be shortchanging anything either.

How much more lag is there with a T3/T4 than just a plain T3?

Your talking about a million and one different combo of t3/t4.

Do you know the specs on the T3?

Why would you even want to use a stock turbo from a 20-year old car? I'm just curious as to what the thought pattern is there. Because it's free, I guess?

Have you considered a 14B?

It is not worth it, just go with a 14b if your looking for a cheap solution. With a T3 you will have to get a custom o2 housing, a t3 adapter or special manifold/header, and play with the oil lines a bit to get tit to work. All that for a turbo that probably will offere little if any performance gain.

If you don't plan on running more than say 20psi the 14b should be fine, 20+psi 16G's are the way to go, they all spool quick and can make good power with the right tuning and setup.

20G's seem to be the crossroad of moving from the smaller blazing response street sized turbos to a power pumping top end screamer.

T3/T4's require a little more understanding & preparation with the need for a different manifold, O2 housing, etc but with all the choices in compressor wheel trims and four flavors of turbine trims they can turn your car from a street queen to a track whore, you just gotta figure out which one you can live with. :)

Personally I wouldn't hybrid with a true T3, I think the largest T3 is the Super 60, the same wheels they use to upgrade the T25's to Super 60's but are 2g direct bolt ons.

Just my opinion :nerd:

The T3 from the Z is in good condition and it's cheap. I tried to get a 14b rebuild and the guy said the shaft is too Fed up to rebuild (without buying another shaft). So i wanted to try for the T-3.

Thanks for the help all
