I'm cruising along University on my way home from the movies, a little after 12:30am or so. I'm just sort of minding my own business when a loud, nasty red Fox body with a big cowl hood comes rolling up on my left. He revs at me, I look over, double clutch downshift into 3rd and punch it. I put some space on him, then shut down. Not sure if he knew I was gonna go.
Another red mustang - this one an SN95 Cobra - came up on the right, along with a red older style Ford pickup. Maybe a 1st gen Lightning? Either way, we all three ended up at the light at Dean and University. Fox body on my left, Cobra on my right. I hear Mr. Fox say something about my all wheel drive... I think he was intimidated. ;)
Mr. Cobra, on the other hand, started asking me about Keith and Micah... and Micah's intercooler. His name was Chris, I think, and his car may have had a blower.
So, the light turns green and I figured I'd try to give the girl a little launch. She was having none of that, though. Between the major exhaust leak right after the turbo, weird air/fuel due to a missing connector on the t-stat housing, and my massive vacuume leak... well, I gave it the go pedal and she gave me that "I don't think so" face. I was left inhaling the fumes of both V8s as I made a pitiful attempt to catch up after 1st gear finally finished. :( Boost was all over the place and EGTs got a bit high so I just said fug it.
By the time we got to University and Hall, I dropped it to second and made that right hander. It's one of my favorite turns around here if you time it right: decreasing radius hard right followed immediately by a smooth transition to the left. I took it at about 7/10ths with one hand waving out the window.
Figured I couldn't put a show on in a straight line, might as well do it in the curves.
