:bird: I no longer defend the integrity of knowledgable Honda owners... they're on their own. There's not that many of them anyway.
I actually like seeing ricers in their whack cars doing random fly bys... it makes me feel that much better about my car!

I like to give credit where credit is due. If someone is knowledgable about cars and/or racing, they deserve the respect no matter what car they have. But on the other side, damn, there are some stupid :booty: people who shouldn't even be in the "Import/Street Racing/Drag Racing/etc.. Scene"

What's up with revving anyway.:gay:
The only time it even happens is when I'm stuck at a light in the opposite direction as the child doing it. What's up with that?? Like I'm going to bumper-car my way out of the traffic to make a u-turn and actually race your little rice-mobile. Not! Grow up kids:bird:

revving is there way of getting atention,, hmm kinda like my bad habit of using the BOV too much,, "kick my ownself in the ass on that one"
i can only give credit where is due, there is only a few civics thats due and i can name them, but 300zx twin turbos,, 300gt vr4s,,supras,,rx7 twin turbos, and dsms of course, gets my respect any day :jack: :jack: :jack:

I think I have said this a million times but this whole rice shit is a thing of the past. You guys realize that to many domestic owners that are clueless we are all a bunch of ricers too right? You guys realize that 90% percent of the dsms out there are fucking "riced out"
There is a point somewhere in that paragraph.
SOLARSVXawd
June 3rd, 2002, 10:07 PM
verry verry true geovani,, most the domestic guys thanxs eclipse are girlie cars, then i have to put my foot down, those are gs and rs the turbo 4g63 has been tried and proven engine with the AWD traction,, those 2 are a deadly combination, hence dsm, any car could be rice,, hm lets take a toyota supra twin turbo u would have to do alot to kill that car, aka make it rice, but i guess it would be posible

LMAO glen sorrie buddy ,, no ofense,, well if it helps i had a 97 eclipse gs,, but mainly for show and sound system i have to show u the magazines and pixs of it that it was in it had 4 12"s subs 2 1,000 watt amp all sponcered bye soundstream it took them a month to build it, but for gs and rs eclipse best bet is for show, and thats what most people do , and gst and gsx are for racing speed, u have to agree with me on some part of that ,, i think carlos has some pixs of the red eclipse i have some at home,

Did I miss the page in the DSM bible that you can't do both. Is it a sin to have a 12 second show car? Seem like everyone I've interacted with so far has "chosen" a side.
SOLARSVXawd
June 4th, 2002, 12:20 PM
well red its posible anything is posible,, most people choose sides, its easier just to do one, but the great thing bought dsm is that u can do both its that whene u run fast its hard to keep your car clean oil leaks, rubber and breaking things u really lose track of looks, it shard to do a awsome AWD launch pull 1.60 in the 60" time and have your prety fiberglass ground effects stay in one peice u get a lot of chassis flex and jolting,

I think it woudl be too expensive to own a car that will win lots of shows and run at least 12 second 1/4 miles. Whoever can do it more power to them.
I think it also depends on taste, I don't really like what the "show" scene considers a nice car, big body kit, 20" rims dropped to the floor. Don't like that. I like a clean car. For example Matts car  His GSR was also what I consider a very clean good looking car and best of all Carlos, his car is freaking stock just with springs and it looks bad ass in my opinion.

Aaron, check out the pics from the IS2000 show. I'm sure you've seen the stuff that it takes to win those, and it's all about $$$. The average DSMer can do a turbo swap, put in a fuel pump and injectors, install a suspension, and 99% of the work involved in running 12s.
The average DSMer can not paint and mold body kits, shave and fill door handles/emblems/antennas/wiper nozzles, do custom paint jobs in their back yard, headlight conversions, reskin an interior, or install a dozen TVs. That means mod money being spent on a shop's labor.
Not to mention most show car features inherently work against going fast: adding weight, adding aero drag, suspensions so low they bottom out, buying parts because they have a trendy name brand instead of buying them because they are proven to perform, etc.
So, it mostly comes down to two things: Money and tastes. I don't like the way most show-winning cars look, nor could I afford to make a car that looks like that and performs well in addition even if I did.
I personally don't believe in cars that are prepped to sit still.

June 4th, 2002, 01:16 PM
I personally do not like the extreme in any direction. For example putting every penny straight into the engine bay... or every penny into looking good. In my opinion doing that gives you two options... a slow car with an overkilled look... or a really fast, stock looking (blah) car. I will be building my car up with 50-75% of each catagory in mind. I just find it unusual that my "style" is so rare. For example... when getting my S-AFC instead of bolting it onto the dash... I'm going to french it in and make it look better for show. Or instead of blowing 1500-2000 on a full race turbo... I'm going to get a polished Big 16G and keep the price tag sane.
Your right though Mr. Thorsen... it's basically about personal taste and how much money you have. :thepimp:

.....And Tokico shocks Geo :D, but thank you sir :jack:
A nice show car that was a weekly racer was Julius's GS-t. His damn A/T GS-t was at the track at least 2 Fridays out the month abck in the days. But he's gotten more serious about the show scene for some time. I do know he's not afraid to race though. He has a BIG16g, FMIC, inj, AFC, F pump, full exhaust, etc. All the goods that will make the car move. I even offered to race him and he accepted, I respect him for that.
On the other hand I know of another DSM owner (not an O-DSMer) that has a show car, AUTO GSX, Greddy 18G, FMIC, AFC, AVC-r, ALL the goods and I the poor thing has prob never been raced (or even tuned). I might be wrong, but it's just a damn shame all those mods get slapped on and don't get used. I guess the owner has a much more different mind set than myslef.
I just like the clean look, like my car of course and other 2g's in O-town (Mike A, Matt L, etc.) But I don't like the stk ride height (meaning stk suspension), but that's me. Lowering it gives better handling, and meaner look too.

Thanks Geo! Sometimes I miss that car ESPECIALLY considering that right now it would be turbocharged. Oh well...
And as far as 12 sec show cars... if you don't think they exist... just ask "Mr. Pretty Boy"! Keith's won some shows AND has 11 second time slips to back it up.

well clubd dsm is go fast with class, all its to it,
to get a civic as fast as a dsm they guy it out, no bumbers plexglass window the whole nine yards ,, dsm u can have a good looking car and go fast
my pointe is people are more known to be a bad ass fast car then to have a pretty car on 22"s and hydrolics,
name a few people with 22" rims tv sets, bodykits,
name a few thats runing 10 second and under
understand matt
whene i think of cars i think of the guys who set records in speed not with 22" rims and bling bling all over them, all chromed out engines

Actually James, No I don't understand. I never really understand what you're trying to say. You're posts are usually very unclear and convoluted with extra punctuation and uncomplete sentences. I also don't appreciate the way that you're get your message across in a condescending manner.
You seem to have a closed-mind when it comes to the import scene. Well, maybe not as closed-minded as pre-judging. "Civics need to be 'guy out', no bumpers, blah blah" There are a handful of streetable civics/integras here in Orlando (a/c, full interior, glass windows) that would hand MOST of the guys in Club DSM their ass. Grant it, it's not everyday that it happens but there are fast street Hondas out there. That statement is NOT intended to make Hondas seem better than DSM/Nissan/Toyota/Kia/whatever... It's to make a point. And yes... it does take more work to make your average civic 'fast' but that doesn't mean much of anything. A fast car is a fast car whether you paid $50K+ for a stock 12 sec car (Z06) or $15K + $20K in mods to run 11's in a Honda or $3K + $3K in mods for an 11 sec 1g DSM. It doesn't matter.
One thing I agree with is that you say "well club dsm is go fast with class, that's all there is to it". Right... "Go fast WITH class... not "Go fast OR have class" as you seem to think. Your statements make it seem that you think a car must be a 'Show' car or a 'Go' car. I'm just telling you that I STRONGLY disagree and there are cars here in Orlando that back that up.

well matt obvously u dont read my posts too well i said u can do both it just casts a lot u can make any car go fast even a geo if u prefer but what it takes for a honda to go fast to what a dsm can do why do it and u still have FWD
i dont know where u get all offenseive here its a damm bluetin board its not like some one killed your mother so chill out kid
civic what do u haev to do to make a 12 second car,
dsm what do u have to do to make it a 12second car
thanx abought it, dont reply to it ether
as for civics theres a billion of them out there 90% of them dont go no where make more noise then they should for what reason
pointe being why spend soo much money in a car that was never made to be fast ,, "economy car" werhe u can have a car i/e supra //300 zx that does the same thing stock for far less money and looks just as good and handles,
matt quite your :mercy: :mercy: :mercy: suck it up :jack: :jack:
and drink it off :chug: :chug:
thisi s what the bb is for to discuss and argue no one is never right and every one has there own opinions im not here to tell no one anything i told u my opinions on it, just dont take it ofensivly and u wil be fine

James I will have to agree with Matt. So what are you saying is when my car is done with my new system and paint and rims that I could not go and win shows and go fast at the same time? Keep in mind James I held a show winning truck that won 2nd at Nopi Nationals back a few years ago. And it had speed. I Use to kill you Red GS all the time! Then I turbo charged it and ran with you Turbo boys back in the day. Look at Keiths car... That car won lots of shows I belive.... and it runs at hell of a quarter mile time. I belive that mine will be there shortly also! My car runs good and fast just working on the show part. My friend Kenny's Intergra would have killed you White GST and his is going to be a show car soon also. So yes you can have a show car and a fast race car. Just play your cards right. :D

[[[dsm u can have a good looking car and go fast ]]
in my last postings read them
if u want to acheeve a truly fast car,, u wil not have the looks for car shows, unless u are rich and if u are rich why the hell would u put so much money in a car and not own a lotus or porche for the same price
if u want your car to run 10s and be one of the fastest cars out there u will not have 22" rims body kits up the ying yang 10 tv sets all the stuff that takes to make a show car,
u can have both fast car and show car like i have been saying in the past 20 posts, but u cant have the extreme of one, well of course u are a millionare, if u are why would u be reading these posts

Off subject, Scott, please don't use that RED highlight for the portion you're quoting. It's very irritating, thanks.
I think Matt has sumed it up well.
Yes it's annoying when someone revs at you in a car slower than a golf cart, just ignore'm. Sometimes I even have fun with them and go WOT becuase maybe they just want to see my nice car fly by them, who knows.
Expect the unexpected. There is always someone faster than you and that car just might be a Honda. *shrug*
Funny thing I experienced when I went to a local Honda dealership a few months back. I park my car and at a close distance I see a primered 94ish Civic with a bodykit and rims. You can totally see the racing seat from about 100ft away. I giggled to myself. Well the owner just happen to walk out and pulled away. I was still sitting in my car. Just as my car shuts off I hear this Civic spin all off first gear, WOOOSSSHHH, all of 2nd gear, WOOOSSHHH, and I was like WTF, over. For all I know that cat would've smoked me.
