I call it - ' Name That Intercooler '

See, I got the intercooler with the 14B turbo for fixing a guy's computer - but I had assumed it was a stock DSM intercooler - after looking at a couple online, I can safely say it isn't. So does anyone recognize it?

Little info... the core is 2.75" thick, 10.25" tank to tank (the core itself) and 7 1/8" tall... I need to find another core with those dimensions...

It looks like an Isuzu Impulse intercooler. I used to have that same intercooler on a Hyunday Scoupe back in the early days.:D

I'm with Akie on this. Looks like a turbo impulse piece to me.

Hmm... ok... now where the heck to find another?

Don't? Just go buy two DSM intercoolers which are more readily available and can probably be had for $50 a pop? :)

Yeah, but... I've already got this one! lol. What are the dimensions of the stock core on the dsm intercooler?

A DSM won't necessarily be faster as an end product but it may prove to be a much better performance value than modding an under-performing 6-cylinder. Junkyard turbo setups on V8s have been known to provide excellent returns for the money invested. I can think of several cars that I would modify before an '88 V6 Camaro.

However, he is not asking for opinions on whether he should or should not continue with his project. He's asking a specific question about an intercooler.

DSM side-mount intercoolers are going to have dimensions comparable to the one you posted pics of.

Yeah, I wasn't asking whether or not it was worthwhile, lol! I paid $500 for the car, $300 into the turbo setup, and outran a $15k '95 Mustang GT that does a known 14.7. Since, I've upgraded to a 3.1, new cam, ported heads, and now a 16G. I'm aiming for mid 13s with the new setup - all for under $2000. Sorry, I'm happy with 13s for $2k ;)

Mr Thorsen, the problem I ran into, is that the DSM intercooler is actually thicker than the Impulse intercooler I have... I'll keep working on it!

Just my .02, I think that the project is awsome, I have never heard of anyone doing that. Keep us posted. If you ever head over this way for the track let me know I would love to see that setup.
