what exhaust are you going with? aftermarket? doing that and a downpipe at the same time can be an expensive venture. if you go to an exhaust shop you can usually get out with a 2.5 turbo back for about 300 bucks with a flex section or if you opt for 3" a little closer to 400. when you compare that to a cat back that is 400 + I would definitely consider having an exhaust shop make one for me. a far as the downpipe, I think that is one of the most critical parts of a high flowing exhaust system, since that is the main bottle neck and most often neglected since people usually opt for a cat back. hot gas needs room to expand, so it makes sense to have a large diameter pipe where gasses are the hottest in order to aid in the evacuation of them from the engine and to promote faster spooling of your turbo.

Also ask them about the Apexi N1 DP & exhaust. Greddy tends to make exhaust that are more restrictive than they claim it to be. So ask about the inner diameter of the Greddy.

Also Tanabe makes a nice cat-back (Racing Medallion) and a DP which is what my cousing put on his 95 GS-t. They are pretty loud exhausts so be prepared.

I believe all the name brand aftermarket exhausts contain neckdowns - HK$, Greedy/Trust, APEXi. But, if you're going to Racing Zone to have an air intake installed, you are probably better off just getting something off the shelf. You probably won't realize or care about any slight performance loss. That's not a jab, just an opinion based on a very few observances.

There is a ton of information on basic stuff like this out on the 'net in the DSM Resources.

I would shop around and see if you can find a quality muffler shop. I would get a downpipe that started at 2.5" at the flange and opened to 3" after the flex section, a 3" Dynomax Bullet race muffler to substitute for the cat, and a 3" cat-back with a Thermal or Dynomax muffler done up by an exhaust shop.

That's what my DP does and I got it from Racing Zone. It's the TOP SPEED DP. It's about $190. It's just like the RRE Dp
