    1G Down

I hate to say it guys but on the way home from work last friday I had a rod bearing failure. I have been quite ill so just got to tear it apart yesterday to find #2 rod bearing oil starved and the rod was very blued. I removed the caps and did some inspection checking the oil passage between the feed at #2 main bearing blowing air through the passage and a plug of dried polishing compound blew out. It was blocking about 70% of the passage. When building I couldn't find a good used crank and couldn't afford an eagle or the equivelent so I purchased a reman from a well known ( National Auto Parts Association ) that we use at the shop with good quality parts. I will be persuing a warranty but remember reading on the box for core return that warrenty was void upon return of core. I have a crank and rod coming and hope to have it going by sunday.

That is unfortunate. If your company does a good amount of business through them, and they truly value their loyalty, their customer service department should take care of you. Any great company would. Best of luck, but if it doesn't work out, you can always get a Eagle crank.

I'm sorry to hear this. I read the title of the thread and I was gonna be pissed if it had to do with that 20g. You'll have it back up in no time Mike, you're a pro. I would definately be pursuing that warranty though.

Just got word they are going to replace the crank. Good thing I bought it through the shop. The waranty states it is over once it is installed unless it breaks or cracks. The plug showes poor workmanship and they know it was professionally installed. They won't cover any other damages but this is better than nothing.

Make sure you blow out all those passages and ensure it's cleanliness man.

Even God says we should bear arms. Luke 22:36 And He said to them, "But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one.

    Thanks.
I have an OEM set. I had to order an Eagle rod. They are very helpful at Eagle and said they should be able to match mine and it should be here today. Good thing I have a good scale.

The 1G is up and running. It was moderatly expensive, about $400. but thats not counting the time and effort. At least they replaced the crank on warranty. I'm sure we will be heading to Orlando for events and perhaps an ocasional monthly meet.

Glad to hear it's back up and running Mike. $400 isn't too bad all things considered.
