Exclamation Forum Rules. All Users Read! Updated 07-04-2010

All users must agree to these rules. By joining this forum and/or posting here you agree to the terms set here and any further updates.

This is a voluntary association of mostly like-minded people. If you don't like that, the people involved, or find our information not useful, feel free to uninvite yourself. No one is making you be here.

This board is mostly a means for the Orlando DSMers to communicate with each other, and our buddies in Tampa, Gainesville, Jax, South Florida and the other Florida based DSM groups. The other people who join, contribute, and fit in are just added bonuses. If you are from an area other than Orlando or a neighboring city and you do not have ties to the Orlando Club DSM, DO NOT SIGN UP! We are not a national support site!

Orlando DSM is a couple of pretty tight, interwoven circles. We don't make an effort to make everyone feel welcome right off the bat. Introducing yourself is your obligation. (And must be done in The Pits Section ONLY!)

The emphasis here is primarily on performance. Generally, we prefer "clean" over "combat" when it comes to looks. If you have a whole lot of multicolored hoses, a big wing, and/or a bunch of vinyl on a 16-second car, expect to catch flak for it.

Here are the rules (in no particular order!)

    1. The first rule is to read the rules. No excuses. Ignorance is no excuse for breaking these rules.
    2. Please take note to grammar and spelling. We are in a predominantly English speaking country. We will extend the use of English here onto this board. Since this message board is about cars, and most users have obtained a drivers license at around age 16, it is safe to assume that most of us have made it through the 10th grade. Last time I checked, grammar and spelling were taught in elementary school. Typos are to be expected, but nobody should have to revert to the "Idiot to English" dictionary to understand what someone is saying. The key to NOT being deemed illiterate is to PROOF READ. Internet shorthand is also NOT to be tolerated. "u" is a letter, not a word, and "2" is a number that should only be used for identifying a quantity. Ghetto slang, Riceboy shorthand, or any other gross deviation from standard written Language will not be tolerated. DO NOT POST IN ALL CAPS! You may use the caps to make a point, but any post made in all capital letters will be deleted without warning. No one wants to try and read that. Also, use paragraphs and punctuation to make your posts easier to read.
    3. Post in the correct forum! If you do not, your post may be deleted without notice. So I guess this IS your notice. DO NOT cross post. If you post the same topic in more than one forum, they will all be deleted. This board is not big enough for your post to go unnoticed. If you get no replies, it is likely you messed up somewhere.
    4. We razz/rib/poke at/make fun of/give each other a hard time. If you can't take the heat, don't put your hand on the manifold. Take insults like a man and dish them out when you earn the right to do so. Personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts will NOT be tolerated. No threats will be tolerated either. You want to call someone out? Do it somewhere else. (And I don’t mean at a PM level!) You do it here, you will find yourself banned. If you are an “Internet Tough Guy” then you need to pack it up and leave now! And NO racial remarks will be tolerated! Do not even use them in a joking fashion! Any racial remarks made will be an instant ban with no lift. This is final!
    5. Please use available resources like those found in the post below to search for your answers before posting. We are not here to hold your hand. It is not that we do not want to help, it is that we get tired of people asking the same basic questions over and over when the answer is easily obtained.
    6. Do not even think about joining this Bulletin Board for the sole purpose of selling your wares! Spamming is not tolerated here! Our Pawn Shop section in under strict control and will not allow non-verified members to post there. If you feel you have something to sell that may benefit our members feel free to contact the admin using the contact link at the bottom of the page. Advertising on the Orlando Club DSM BB is not free.
    7. Use email or Personal Messaging for personal conversations that would not interest others.
    8. All threads are to be kept ON TOPIC! Any off topic related conversations will be removed at the discretion of an admin or moderators.
    9. Users WILL register using at least their first name in the "name" category. If you do not have the sack to at least post your first name, you are a troll. (SEE #10)
    10. TROLLS ARE NOT, AND WILL NOT, BE TOLERATED HERE!
    11. Signatures are NOT to contain any list of vehicles, mods, etc. The signature area of the profile may be used for a SHORT sentence or quote as long as it is not of indecent (read: It must be work safe) content. Signatures are preferred to be kept as one line, and should not exceed 2 lines. There is no need to list your car, name, location, etc. in your signature as this information shows in your post bit to the left of your post. Absolutely NO advertising is allowed in your signature unless something is approved by the admin. Any signatures that do not follow this rule will be deleted at the will of the admin. Repeat offenders will lose the ability to have a signature.

Avatars are not to be "offensive" in nature. No naked people, no dead bodies, etc... These also must be work safe. We do not require it, however we do suggest using an avatar of your car (being an auto enthusiast site.) If you have a pic of your car and want it as an avatar but do not have the ability/software/etc.. , you may contact the admin and ask very nice and he may do it for you.
    12. The DSM Arcade is only open to those with a "Supporting Member" status. You do not have supporting member status until you make a donation to the forum through the paid subscription option in your control panel.
    13. No one is permitted to have multiple users under one account. If you have more than one member in a household, you must both have an account and must not post under each others. Any member allowing another member to post under his/her account shall be banned.
    14. In the same manner, no member is allowed to have multiple accounts. Any member found to have more than one account will lose all accounts.
    15. Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts, or the such. This will be considered post whoring and is against the rules.
    16. Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.

Any infractions of these rules can result in your account being banned. If you feel this is harsh, understand that this was done out of necessity, not out of desire.

Absolutely no bashing or disrepect to anyone on the moderation team will be tolerated. If you are the victim of a moderator doing their job and are displeased, you should figure out how to handle it in a professional and adult manner. Any infraction of this rule will be handled directly by the admin.

We reserve the right to update or change these rules at anytime with out prior notice.

Posting to the Pawn Shop Area Rules:

    Rules are here
I would submit, Your Honor, that if someone is doing something demonstrably asinine, and I ask them to stop it, please, and they say, "Make us," they've entered a binding oral contract whereby I am permitted, even obligated, to try to make them.

Even God says we should bear arms. Luke 22:36 And He said to them, "But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one.
